Summertime means fun in the sun, but it also means spending lots of money on things that damage our planet. Here are five eco-friendly alternatives to traditional summer activities. They're all free!
Go Camping.
If you've got kids, camping is one of those classic family outings that everyone loves. And while there are plenty of reasons to go camping, here are some more reasons why you should consider going camping this year.
Visit a State Park.
You can find state parks across the country, and each has its own unique attractions. Many offer hiking trails, fishing opportunities, swimming pools, playgrounds, and even campgrounds.
Hike or Bike.
If you live near a lake or river, consider taking advantage of the water by going boating, canoeing, kayaking, or sailing. Or, if you prefer to stay closer to home, there are plenty of options for hiking and biking.
Play at a Waterpark.
A water park is a fun place to spend the day with kids. They offer rides, slides, and other attractions that will keep them entertained for hours. Plus, they are usually located close to where people live so they are easy to visit.
Take a Class.
If you want to learn something new, consider taking a class at a local community college or adult education centre. You can find classes on everything from gardening to cooking to photography.
